Mike Tzo:

Tell us a brief history of the band?

Ourselves:
We started the band as a two-piece (Guitar & Drums) and played shows for about a year then Mike joined on Bass. We recorded an EP of the songs we had at the time and played for about another year. Then just last year we released a demo of new songs and made a music video for 'SmarterChild'. We promoted that demo heavily in the winter and will be promoting our new full-length 'Our Enemy' during our May Tour to Ohio.

Mike Tzo:
What are your hopes for the near future?

Ourselves:
I think our hopes for the near future are that we have a successful tour and that people enjoy our new release. It's going to be our first time out this far so we want to make the best of it. Make sure to check out our music video on YouTube and look for our album 'Our Enemy'.

Mike Tzo:
Who are your idols and why?

Ourselves:
For me personally (Dean), people like George Carlin and Jim Carrey have showed me how be a performer and also Jimi Hendrix and David Byrne who changed the way I hear music. For me (Mike A), Neil Peart was someone I looked up to playing drums and being a huge Rush fan as a kid. Jerry Garcia is another influence and The Greatful Dead live albums. I (Mike L) think Kurt Cobain would be an idol for me, I was born in Seattle and have always loved Nirvana especially Kurt's playing.

Mike Tzo:
If you guys were to describe yourself in one word, what would it be?

Ourselves:
Probably 'ourselves' haha because it's always been a thing. We try to have fun and not be too specific about anything we play. Our writing and playing is very loose and natural and I think it helps us be who we are instead of writing and playing something that 'we saw at that show last week' or like 'hey let's use that sound from that new song' you know?

Mike Tzo:
What's your most embarrassing experience?

Ourselves:
Most embarrassing... probably this one show we played in Worcester, Massachusettes. We were under the impression that other bands were playing that night and when we got there the place wasn't even open. We waited around for like an hour and finally this guy let us in and set up. We played for about 5 people and they told us to turn down at one point. They couldn't believe we drove out to the show haha.

How does music affect you and the world around you?

Ourselves:
We'd say that music is our connection to the world around us. It's like a universal language and something that humans can be in harmony with. It's pretty much like a big community that the whole world can be apart of. You being from Greece, interviewing us in Brooklyn is exactly how music affects us and the world around us.

Mike Tzo:
What do you think about "YOUR Music" and Eleftheria Zavalis?

Ourselves:
First we'd like to thank you Mike and Eleftheria for putting this together and we think that YourMusic is doing a great thing helping bands out. Mike was fun to hang with and we're happy to tell everyone our thoughts and future plans!
