Interview - Hammrock at YOUR Music
Journalist: Eirini Makri
Eirini Makri:
Hammrock! Welcome to Your Music! Please, feel free to introduce yourselves..How has this journey started?
Hammrock:
Thank you very much! Our journey begun on December 2012. Hammrock created straight away, after the breakup of my previous band, and all the ideas and the songs I had on my mind, came alive.
Eirini Makri:
Tell us a bit about your name and its roots..How did you come up with it? What does it mean to you?
Hammrock:
Our name is a constructed word. It means nothing, but we just like the way it sounds and the fact that it refers to rock. The second part of the word shows the kind of music we play.
Eirini Makri:
Your official EP is finally released! From what we listened, it combines many emotions and styles (regarding the rock and metal genres)...Name some of your biggest influences and inspirations.
Yeah, that was what we mainly wanted from our beggining: to make rock music, heavy and soft, and this is what we really like doing. We don't need to have a label (metal or pop or blues band etc). We play rock music and the real rockers will surely appreciate our job.
We are mainly influenced by '70s and '80s rock music, but also a little bit by many other music eras.
Eirini Makri:
How easy or difficult it is for a band like you to create a big name in the Greek music industry? Are any thoughts of going abroad in order to chase your dreams?
Especially for provincial bands, like us, it's pretty difficult to increase your popularity. Of course, nowadays with the internet everything became simpler. However there are no stages and live gigs to propound your job live (something that happens to Athens and to other big cities). Anyway, I believe that when you try much and when you really want something, you can manage with it, maybe without big economic sacrifices. As for your second question, in a few days we're moving in England. We believe that there are many chances for usicians there. The time will show us the result. So, we will form our band in England, in a place where the rivarly is big and a band emergence is a hard case.
Eirini Makri:
Is there any specific concert hall or arena where you would "die" to perform? Which one is it, and who would you dream to play with?
All over the world, in every place our favourite bands have played.
There are so many musicians we want to play with. Surely we would like to play with Uli Jon Roth, Scorpions, Iron Maiden (from the alive), but also with Ronnie James Dio, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Hendrix and many others.
Eirini Makri:
Any quotes that follow you in life?
Hammrock:
We rock!
Eirini Makri:
What is your opinion about "Your Music"?
Hammrock:
''Your Music" is a site who helps immensely with puting up musicians and bands, who might don't have many chances to propagate their job. It is very helpful, especially for underground bands, who surely have difficulties to turn up. These actions are very beneficial for musicians, notably in our country.
